There was the hype over a virus which was nowhere near, and is still not near, what any rational person would define as a "pandemic." There were images, purporting to be from China, of what were clearly crisis-actors wearing masks or lying dead on the street. There are the reported "death tolls" which are actually no worse than various strains of flu which strike every year -- or even that of regular colds. Now, about six weeks into the "crisis," we begin to see the fingerprints of the usual suspects in the form of irregular economic warfare against Nationalist China and also, by consequence, the artificially inflated U.S. stock market. Flu mania is at an all-time high this year. The media has incessantly reported (and misreported) each and every instance that the flu is somehow relevant to a person’s demise. While this is a prepper news site, I am a bit icy on the flu propaganda machine which now seems to be merely a marketing platform for failed flu shots. I realize that reads like a well-orchestrated fictional conspiracy theory, but I can’t help but use my common sense.
One of the main fears is flu misdiagnosis. That’s happened, believe it or not, and it cost a young girl her life. While I believe that everyone should know how to survive a pandemic, I also think that while the media is parading the flu around as the next Ebola, there may be other concerns that are being left unattended. One of those seems to be a virus that mimics all the symptoms of flu. Its called adenovirus and its symptoms are almost exactly the same as those a person would suffer from after coming down with the flu. Doctors rarely test for adenovirus and the adenovirus vaccine situation isn’t the same theatrics as flu shots offer.
“Unless you look for it or you suspect it’s circulating or you are using diagnostic testing capabilities that can tell it apart, you are going to miss it, especially during flu season,” said Adriana Kajon, Ph.D on AOL news.
Kajon also said that severe cases of adenovirus are being missed; which essentially points to adenovirus being lost in the fray of the flu hype machine that’s currently plaguing our mainstream media.
So you might be wondering, why would adenovirus seem so media-inconsequential when compared to the flu? Well, be warned, we are going back to that uncomfortable, but completely reasonable, conspiracy theory place. The flu shot is a mainstream vaccine that’s readily available and widely prescribed to people. The flu shot can easily be pushed in workplaces, even mandatorily in hospitals. The flu shot is being recommended now for younger and younger people.
The adenovirus vaccine is not distributed to civilian folks. In fact, adenovirus vaccines are only distributed to the military. From 1971 to 1999, the adenovirus vaccine was a core military vaccine. However, in 1999, the vaccine maker stopped production of the adenovirus vaccine, which stopped it from being supplied to military bases throughout the world. But in 2011, Teva Pharmaceuticals acquired a new adenovirus vaccine contract with the military which re-prompted the use of the vaccine on military personnel. Basic training recruits began being vaccinated against adenovirus once again.
Seeing that the vaccine is only for the military, the profit potential for diagnosing adenovirus is simply nonexistent. Teva Pharmaceuticals has exposed the greatest extent of profit for this vaccine by obtaining an Army contract.
Adenovirus is considered a respiratory illness, most cases tend not to be overly severe. Sore throat, diarrhea, pink eye, bronchitis, pneumonia are a number of the potential serious symptoms which can mimic that of the common flu. Coughing, sneezing, shaking hands, are the common ways you transmit adenovirus (sounds familiar…because it is familiar).
How often is adenovirus being mistaken for the flu? We can’t know that because even flu diagnosis seems hardly confirmed anymore. If you go in and tell a doctor you have all of the above symptoms, you are probably asked if you have had your flu shot and getting some Tamiflu and being sent on your way.
The hype and overdramatization over the flu are beyond sensational, it’s downright reckless. Cases of strep, adenovirus, and who knows what else are likely commonly being misdiagnosed as the flu, potentially for the sake of getting more people to receive a flu shot. A flu shot which is confirmed to barely work.
That said, as preppers, sensational news should only serve to remind us to prep for things we may have slacked on. Make sure you check out a list of my pandemic prepper supplies (its all cheap stuff). Make sure you know what to do if a pandemic ever strikes your living quarters, city, or state. Pandemics have taken devastating tolls on human lives throughout history, however, we live in the post-vaccine world which tends to imply we are safe from such consequences. That’s simply not true, vaccines are consistently failing these days and most vaccines tend to be in place for profit over true human protection. Always be prepared to help you and your family via your own prepper means. The media is always doing what’s in the media’s best interest, which tends to be sensationalizing events.
I certainly don’t want to get the flu, but taking a failed flu shot is hardly the method of prevention I would choose (to each their own). For me, I wash my hands, avoid cashier’s that are sneezing like crazy, I eat clean, I lower the amount of alcohol I drink, and I wash my hands (again, for good measure). I choose to clean off germs and build up my immunity for any that get through the guard.

A Tapei family has won a case against The Ministry of Health regarding a flu shot vaccine injury that their 16-year old died from flu shot side effects.
In November 2009, the then-16-year-old boy, surnamed Chen (?), had received a novel influenza A (H1N1) vaccination at the Chiayi County vocational high school where he studied.
After the vaccination, Chen’s face and eyes began swelling.
Even though the school reported the case to the county health bureau and his parents took him to several hospitals for treatment, the cause of his symptoms was not identified.
He took prescribed steroids and allergy medication for about two years and continued to suffer from headaches, before he in May 2012 suddenly lost consciousness in the student dormitory.
He was taken to Taipei Veterans’ General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), an autoimmune disease marked by intense inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.
His condition rapidly worsened during his stay at the hospital until he died from sepsis in August 2012.
Chen’s parents claimed vaccine injury compensation from the ministry, but their claim was rejected because its review committee thought the onset of ADEM should have occurred within about two weeks after the vaccination.
The parents filed a lawsuit against the ministry at the Taipei High Administrative Court, which they lost.
However, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled that, since the possibility that Chen developed ADEM from the flu vaccine could not be ruled out, the ministry must award the parents NT$2.09 million in compensation.
People mindlessly and robotically get flu shots. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that most people have no idea what is in their flu shot.

Less than half of the residents in Windsor-Essex have
received their flu shot this season, but the local health unit is
reporting a drop in the number of influenza cases. During a Board of Health meeting on Thursday, the Windsor-Essex
County Health Unit reported that there are only three confirmed cases of
influenza in the region. There were 55 confirmed cases at this time
last year — a 94% decrease.
“One of the contributing factors is that the vaccine this year is a
good match for the current influenza [strain] that’s out there,” says
Mike Janisse, communications director with the health unit. “Also, the
milder temperatures are helping.” However, the health unit is estimating that only around 40% of local
residents have received their flu vaccine, with 141,000 doses
distributed so far this season. “I think it speaks to the need to continue to promote people getting
the flu shot,” says Janisse. “Especially to protect those who are really
at a high risk.”

I had a really good Doctor years ago. I’ve moved since, but while living near this Doctor, I went to him for a couple of injuries I had acquired while working out. There is something very strange about the intense international hype surrounding what appears to be, at least at this point in time, the non-crisis of Ebola. Three months into the outbreak, and it turns out that only a relative handful of people have died in West Africa (after receiving vaccines from Western 'aid workers'!) and one man has died (allegedly) in Dallas. Yet, if we were only to judge by the intensity of the media coverage, one would think we are experiencing a re-run of the Black Death of Medieval times.
Consider, according to WhiteHouse.gov:
"the annual human flu in the U.S. "results in approximately 36,000 deaths and more than 200,000 hospitalizations each year. In addition to this human toll, influenza is annually responsible for a total cost of over $10 billion in the U.S."
According to the World Health Organization:
"Every winter, tens of millions of people get the flu. Most are only ill and out of work for a week, yet the elderly are at a higher risk of death from the illness. We know theworldwide death toll exceeds a few hundred thousand people a year,but even in developed countries the numbers are uncertain, because medical authorities don't usually verify who actually died of influenza and who died of aflu-like illness."

Flu is actually a pretty nasty disease. People say they've got "the
flu" when they've really only got a cold, but a genuine bout of
influenza knocks you off your feet for several days, and is a major
killer in the elderly; an outbreak in 2011 killed around 600 people.
But don't worry! Since 2006, during the avian flu scare, the Government
has spent £424 million stockpiling a drug called Tamiflu.
Unfortunately for the Government, and for elderly people, and for
people who don't want to spend a week in bed aching and sweating and
vomiting, it seems that Tamiflu doesn't work very well.
The Cochrane Library, the great centre for epidemiology and public health data, has carried out a huge meta-analysis,
a study combining the data from dozens of smaller trials, into Tamiflu
and another "neuraminidase inhibitor", Relenza. Cochrane Reviews are
hugely authoritative works, a sort of gold standard if you'll forgive
the cliché. And, five years after the UK and US began spending billions
to buy millions upon millions of doses, the Cochrane Library has
reported.
A Healthy 19-Year-Old Man Becomes Sick, Slips Into Coma And Dies after flu shot
Chandler Webb's family believes they know the cause of his death. They say it was a flu shot.
"You can't describe how hard it is to lose a child," said a very emotional Lori Webb, Chandler's mother.
Webb is just one day away from burying her son.
"I hate this. I hate that I have to bury my son," said Webb.
Chandler was said to be in perfect health when he went to get his flu shot on October 15th. 35 days later after he left the doctor's office he died at the hospital.
In Webb's mind the only thing that caused her son's death was, "a flu shot," she said.
Chandler who recently graduated from Brighton High School was just a week away from turning in his LDS missionary papers.
The last thing on his list was a physical.
According to Webb her son walked into the doctor with no health issues. He got a tuberculosis test and a flu shot and the next day he became very ill.
"Sicker than he has ever been in his life. He says he's never shook so hard his whole life. He had the worst headache, throw up, and he slept for about two and a half days and didn't eat anything during that time," said Webb.
Chandler was taken to the emergency room at Alta View Hospital and later released because Lori says the doctors thought he was improving.
Then his condition suddenly worsened and he was taken to Intermountain Medical Center on Sunday October 20th. A few days later he slipped into a coma.
"I could not believe it. I would never in my life would ever think your son is in a coma how does that happen?" said Webb.
At 1:30 in the morning November 19th chandler passed away after Lori says the family had no choice but to take him off life support.
She says only one doctor of many believed he died from a flu shot.
In her mind she believes that was the only cause, even though the state health department says there are no reported cases of anyone dying of the flu shot in Salt Lake County.
"They checked every virus, every fungus, ever tick, west nile they even checked for rabies," said Webb. "and they can't find anything...it was the most senseless, senseless, death."
The Webb's say they told the medical examiner they did not want an autopsy performed. And no official cause of death has been determined at this time as more tests are being done.
The Salt Lake County Health Department says they are aware of Chandler's case and their heart goes out to the family, but they are prohibited from talking about the case because of health laws, but they released the following statement in general terms about flu shots.
"Flu vaccines, like many vaccines, have been proven repeatedly to decrease illness, hospitalization and death, especially in people at higher risk for serious illness and complications.
Vaccine side effects are usually mild and short-lived. The most common side effects are a sore arm and possibly a low fever or achiness. The nasal spray vaccine may cause congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or cough.
The vast majority of people who receive a flu vaccine have no serious problems from it. However, as with any medical procedure, receiving a vaccine may very rarely be associated with an adverse reaction. In almost all cases, receiving vaccinations results in improved protection against debilitating and deadly diseases. Anyone with concerns about receiving a vaccine should discuss it with his or her personal health care provider."
