Popular sugar substitutes linked to faster brain aging

 by:

sugar-substitutes(NaturalHealth365)  Artificial sweeteners have long been marketed as the “guilt-free” way to satisfy your sweet tooth.  From diet sodas to sugar-free yogurts and protein bars, they’re everywhere, pitched as the smarter, healthier alternative to sugar.  For decades, the message has been clear: if you want to stay slim, protect your teeth, and manage blood sugar, swap out sugar for these zero-calorie substitutes.

Aspartame & Cancer Stem Cells: How This "Sweet Treat" May Drive Aggressive Tumor Growth

A concerning new study reveals the artificial sweetener aspartame could be fueling aggressive cancer growth by promoting cancer stem cell populations in one of the most hard to treat cancers.

A new study has found that long-term exposure to the artificial sweetener aspartame may promote cancer growth by increasing cancer stem cell populations in tumors. Cancer stem cells can seed new tumors and are associated with aggressive disease that is treatment-resistant. This study adds to a growing body of evidence compiled on the Greenmedinfo.com database linking aspartame to 77 distinct diseases and exhibiting 12 different modes of toxicity. Some of the most concerning diseases associated with aspartame include brain cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, and premature death. Key toxic mechanisms of aspartame include carcinogenicity, neurotoxicity, and endocrine disruption. This new research, along with prior data, suggests that aspartame may be contributing to the epidemic of chronic diseases in aspartame-consuming populations and should be avoided.

WHO declares popular artificial sweetener possible carcinogen

 by:

aspartame-declared-possible-carcinogen(NaturalHealth365)  The artificial sweetener aspartame has long been considered the dieter’s friend because of its ability to sweeten foods without the caloric or glucose impact of table sugar.  Since 1974, some of the biggest brands in the food industry have used it to replace sugar in their “diet foods and drinks”.

However, a recent study raised some serious concerns about the use of aspartame for human consumption, leading the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an agency under the purview of the World Health Organization (WHO), to declare the substance “possibly carcinogenic to humans.”

And the big food brands are not very happy about it.

Editor’s note: We do NOT consider the World Health Organization a trustworthy health “authority” … but, when this corrupt agency declares artificial sweeteners a cancer trigger – you can imagine how bad this is for human health.  We’ve been warning our readers about the danger for years!

4 Artificial Sweeteners Linked to 'Nightmare Bacteria'

Synthetic sweeteners have been linked to a wide range of health problems, with over 80 documented on the GreenMedInfo database, alone. The various mechanisms of their toxicity, however, have not yet been fully elucidated. A new study raises a disturbing possibility that these widely consumed chemicals are driving otherwise 'good bacteria' into developing potentially lethal antibiotic resistance through a gut-mediated process.

A concerning new study published in the journal Gut Microbes titled, "Non-caloric artificial sweeteners modulate conjugative transfer of multi-drug resistance plasmid in the gut microbiota," raises a concerning possibility: commonly used artificial sweeteners (saccharin, sucralose, aspartame, and acesulfame potassium) are contributing to the spread of antibiotic resistance associated genes within gut bacteria linked with the rise of deadly infections.

How #Diet #Sodas Are Actually Making You #Fat

Life styles of 749 American people where studied by scientists at the University Of Texas over a period of five years.

Dr Fowler said: ‘Because the study measured waist circumference as well as total weight, we were able to look at what happened to participants’ abdominal obesity.‘The increases in abdominal fat were more than three times as great in daily diet soda users as in non-users.

Weight loss efforts may be in vain as it has been suggested that waistline reducing sodas may actually be making you fat. Experts are now saying the consumption of diet sodas may actually be having a reverse effect.

We now live in a world that is obsessed with image, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have put a whole new importance on the way people look with the growing ‘selfie’ culture, thus diet soda brands have capitalised on this.Life styles of 749 American people where studied by scientists at the University Of Texas over a period of five years. They watched the number of fizzy drinks each participant consumed and whether they were diet drinks or not.
The results were shocking to say the least. For those who drank one diet drink per day had gained at least three inches on their waistline. The study was conducted by three follow up visits with participants being interviewed at the beginning of the study, their waists were measured by circumference.

Those who didn’t consume diet fizzy drinks saw their waist circumference increase less than one inch over a nine-year period. The reports on occasional consumption, which was measured by drinking less than one diet soda a day, saw waist line circumference increase by two inches.

The Group that reported drinking diet sodas on a daily basis saw a massive increase of 3 inches a day on their waistline.

Previous studies have shown that there are dangers in increasing fat around the waistline – this has linked visceral fat, that builds up around the organs increasing inflammation and risks of diabetes, strokes, heart attack and even cancer.

For those who drank one diet drink per day had gained at least three inches on their waistline.
‘This is during the very time in life when increasing waist circumference is associated with increased risk of these serious medical conditions, and mortality itself.

A new study was started by the researchers who adjusted statistically for a large number of variables which may have had an affect on the findings, this included waist size, exercise levels, diabetes and smoking. The results where consistent with the findings from studies of heart attacks, strokes and long term diabetes among daily diet soda users.

These results are consistent with findings from a number of other observational studies of increased long-term risk of diabetes, heart attack, stroke and other major medical problems among daily diet soda users.

Even when you adjust for those things, you have this independent effect of diet soda consumption on waist circumference change over time,’ senior author, Dr. Hazuda said.

The question is, why are these brands being marketed to us as a ‘diet’ product, when it clearly isn’t.
