How "ex" Jewish Priests Split the Church

The Vatican has excommunicated the priesthood of a rebel Catholic faction. The priests’ conservative followers have refused to renounce them.

This isn't really as much of a story about religion or Catholicism as it is about the notoriously and amazingly effective Jewish history of penetrating, dividing and conquering perceived adversaries. The article sums up the latest development in a decades-old schism engineered -- unbeknown by most Catholics -- by the "usual suspects" :

"When the Vatican excommunicated the priesthood of a rebel conservative faction last week, creating the biggest schism in Roman Catholicism in decades, it also hoped to drive the group’s many followers back to the mainstream church. Instead, according to interviews with some of the faction’s followers, the punishment has been met with defiance.

“It changes nothing,” said Blandine Guillaumin, 42, a teacher at a school run by the group in France. Ms. Guillaumin said she would remain part of Society of St. Pius X, even if the Vatican went ahead with its threat to excommunicate worshipers who stayed loyal to the breakaway group.

“We are sure we are doing God’s will,” Ms. Guillaumin said. It is the society, not the Vatican, she said, that represents “pure, authentic Catholicism.”

Most Catholics and even many non-Catholics know that there was great internal controversy generated by the Roman Catholic Church’s "modernization" following the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council. But very few understand the history of certain "Catholic" Priests who were at the forefront of the "liberalization" which did away with many centuries of Latin tradition and made the Church less "antisemitic ™." The Second Vatican Council truly revolutionized Catholic-Jewish relations by issuing the landmark declaration, Nostra Aetate (In Our Time), in 1965-- the very same year during which the Jewish Supremacists fundamentally altered US immigration laws, but I digress.

Nostra Aetate explicitly condemned "antisemitism" ™ and repudiated the 1900-year-old charge that blamed Jews for the death of Jesus. In almost "Scofield Bible"-ish sounding rhetoric, the new declaration also affirmed the eternal covenant between God and the Jewish people and the Jewish roots of Christianity --- you know, that whole "Judaeo-Christian" goyslop thing.

The real drama here lies in the backstory of Nostra Aetate, which we will now review.

Would "youse guys" be at all surprised to learn that several prominent Jewish-born Catholic priests played critical roles in drafting Nostra Aetate during the Second Vatican Council? Shocker, eh? The most notable were Father Gregory Baum and Monsignor John M. Oesterreicher. Throughout the process, the "Catholic priests" worked alongside Jewish scholars, most notably Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. A brief bio for each of the two revolutionary "priests" :

Father Gregory Baum

Born in Berlin to a Jewish mother, Baum -- like many communist Jews -- fled Hitler's Germany to Canada in 1940. He went on to became an Augustinian priest and, later on, the main author of Nostra Aetate. In 1974, Gregory Baum officially left the priesthood because he did not support the Catholic Church's policy on sexual ethics. After having done his damage a decade earlier, Baum was now free to practice his homosexuality openly and "proudly."

Monsignor John M. Oesterreicher:

Born in Moravia, Oesterreicher "converted" to Catholicism in 1924. Years later, he went on to become a vocal, "anti-Nazi" radio broadcaster in Europe. At the request of the pusillanimous Pope Paul VI (a rumored homosexual), Oesterreicher was assigned a major part in writing the final drafts of Nostra Aetate. After the Council, he founded the Institute of Judaeo-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

So there you have it. A pair of "anti-Hitler" Jews -- one of them a sodomite -- conspired with a rabbi to cause a media-approved liberalizing schism which still divides Catholics to this day. It's enough to make one wonder if the tribal ancestors of these characters somehow also had their hands in great Catholic-Protestant schisms of the 1500s, and the many deadly years of brotherly wars which followed.
