Why Did #Hitler #Invade #Greece & #Yugoslavia?

WITH HIS HANDS FULL FIGHTING BRITAIN, AND WITH SOVIET FORCES MASSING NEAR GERMAN BORDERS, WHY DID HITLER INVADE GREECE & YUGOSLAVIA?

By Mike King

Germany controls Northern Europe, but is still vulnerable from the South and East.

Some Background Information:
In the Spring of 1940, the British had been chased out of Europe at Dunkirk (allowed to escape by Hitler) and France soon signed an armistice with Germany. For wartime defensive purposes, Germany continues to occupy Northern France, Holland and Belgium. Bases have also been established in Norway and Denmark (in response to British maneuvers aimed at establishing bases in those nations).

Germany has a peace offer on the table; an offer to end the war and withdraw its troops from all occupied territories (except the Prussian territory reclaimed from Poland). Churchill will hear none of it! Britain continues to bomb Germany while urging the Soviet Union to get involved. The cunning Stalin pretends to want peace with Germany, while his Red Army continue to mass near Germany's borders.

Churchill's grand plan, by his own later admission, is to establish a Britich presence on the continent, in what he calls "the soft underbelly" (Southern Europe). He hopes to move against Germany from the South, while the Soviets attack Germany from the East. Greece and Yugoslavia are part of this "southern underbelly".

SEPTEMBER 1940:

Germany, Japan & Italy sign the peaceful Tripartite Pact.

"The Governments of Japan, Germany, and Italy consider it as the condition precedent of any lasting peace that all nations in the world be given each its own proper place, have decided to stand by and co-operate with one another in their efforts in Greater East Asia and the regions of Europe respectively wherein it is their prime purpose to establish and maintain a new order of things, calculated to promote the mutual prosperity and welfare of the peoples concerned. It is, furthermore, the desire of the three Governments to extend cooperation to nations in other spheres of the world that are inclined to direct their efforts along lines similar to their own for the purpose of realizing their ultimate object, world peace."

The lying Western Press spins The Tripartite Pact as "Anti-U.S." The pact only mentions self defense - AND ONLY IF ONE OF THE PARTIES IS ATTACKED - and says NOTHING about targeting America.

MARCH 25, 1941

Yugoslavia joins the Tripartite Pact (as had Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria & Hungary).

MARCH 27, 1941

British Intelligence and "pro Western" officers orchestrate a military coup d'état. Yugoslavia's foreign policy instantly turns away from Germany and towards Britain and the Soviet Union. "A Treaty of Friendship" with Stalin's evil regime is signed the following week!

MARCH 27 - APRIL 5, 1940

The Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) organizes mass street demonstrations, in Belgrade and other major cities, in favor of the recent coup.

Like all Communist Parties, Yugoslavia's KPJ takes its marching orders from Stalin.

OCTOBER 1940 - APRIL 1941

Though unrelated to Germany’s war, Mussolini’s foolish war with Greece creates a big problem for Hitler. As Italian forces meet stiff Greek resistance, Churchill uses the conflict as an opportunity to establish armies in Europe’s “soft underbelly”. British troops begin arriving to help the Greeks in their fight against the Italians.

Italy's adventure bogs down in Greece / British troops (Australian) based in Egypt embark for Greece in April of 1941.

APRIL 6, 1941

Forced to postpone his surprise preemptive invasion of the Soviet Union, Hitler orders the invasion of Greece and Yugoslavia. A pro German regime is restored in Yugoslavia and the still small number of British troops in Greece are forced to evacuate.

Churchill’s (and Stalin's) scheme to inflame Southern Europe has been thwarted.

Mussolini's imperialist ego creates many problems for his German ally.

APRIL 1941

The Western Press blames Germany and misrepresents the circumstances of the situation.

"Moscow (Stalin) Signs Amity Pact With Belgrade."...Hmmmm. That sure didn't take long!

Hitler, as always, told the absolute truth about what was really going on in Southeastern Europe.

"The revolt in Belgrade (Yugoslavian Capital) which led to the overthrow of the Prince Regent and his government, determined the further development of events in that part of Europe. Although Britain played a major role in that coup, Soviet Russia played the main role. What I had refused to Mr. Molotov [Soviet Foreign Minister] during his visit to Berlin [November 1940], Stalin believed he could obtain indirectly by revolutionary activity. Without regard for the treaties they had signed, the Bolshevik rulers expanded their ambitions. The Treaty of Friendship with the new revolutionary regime [in Belgrade] showed very quickly just how threatening the danger had become."
Adolf Hitler / December 11, 1941
