Ari Schonbrun experienced first-hand the terror of Sept. 11,
2001. He came away with a reinforced faith in the power of God.
We make no claim of Mr. Schonbrun having received any
advance notice about the attacks of September 11. Our purpose is to document
the event -- while noting the long list of VIP miracles that occured on that
fateful day.

In addition to Cantor Fitzgerald VIPs Howard and Edie Lutnick's "miracle" absence on 9/11, the Chief Admin Officer for CF was also spared because he too was "running late." In that important position, Ari Schonbrun (rolling eyes) was responsible for directing the daily administrative processes for Cantor Fitzgerald's capital markets. He was a real "big shot," to be sure.
In 1971, at the age of 14, Schonbrun's family moved to Israel, where he would later attend Bar Ilan University before returning to the United States. He worked at the Israeli-founded United Mizrachi Bank for 10 years rising to the position of head trader. In 1993, he went to work at Cantor Fitzgerald. Long active in Jewish causes, he was also a member of Partners in Torah study group. (here)
Schonbrun's office at CF was located on the deadly 101st floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. As the story goes, a series of delays left him running late that morning, placing him on the 78th floor (where the first leg of the elevator journey stops) when the first plane struck. Thrown to the ground by the impact and surrounded by smoke, fire, and chaos, Schonbrun is said to have helped a badly burned colleague to safety and was thrown into the national spotlight thereafter. How someone could have been "badly burned" on the 78th floor when the "plane" struck between the 93rd & 99th floors seems to defy explanation. Only 4 of Schonbrun's 662 co-workers present that day survived.

Reminiscent of how so many "Holocaust Survivors" ™ later parlayed their comfy cozy stay at the Bullschwitz Internment Camp into lucrative book deals and speaking engagements at various conferences and college campuses, Schonbrun has since cashed in on his good luck that day. Premier Speakers charges a $12,500 speaking fee on his behalf -- of which the agency typically keeps about 25%, the rest going to the speaker.
