With countless explicit and highly disturbing scenes involving minors, “Euphoria” ends up accomplishing one major goal: Grooming its young viewers. Here’s a deeper look at this insidious series.

The least one can say is that the teen drama Euphoria is a major hit. It is HBO’s second most-watched show of all time, behind only Game of Thrones, with over 6 million viewers per week. Videos and memes of the show are highly viral, especially on TikTok, the favorite social media of children and teenagers. The show’s stars are now major celebrities and are avidly followed by droves of young fans.

With all of that being said, here’s a question: How many adults actually sat down and watched this thing? Because I did. And it did not leave me feeling ‘euphoric’ at all. Actually, it left me with the gut feeling that I’ve witnessed something deeply toxic. And why are there so many penises in that show marketed to minors?

Euphoria is not merely another edgy drama that tackles teen issues such as drugs and sexuality. It goes way beyond that. The only word that properly describes what’s going on in Euphoria is “grooming”.

It doesn’t take a rap historian to know that WAP is not the first raunchy song in rap history. Over 30 years ago, 2 Live Crew released the highly explicit single Me So Horny which became a massive hit with teens across America. Soon after, major controversy ensued and, for the first time ever, a U.S. district court judge ruled this recording “obscene”.

The album was banned from sale in Florida and a lengthy legal battle ensued over the song’s lyrics. The decision to ban the album was later overturned on appeal. This final ruling – which was upheld by the US Supreme Court – was deemed as a victory for free speech. In the following years, the rap world saw a constant flow of raunchy songs, many of which were performed by female rappers. And nobody really batted an eye.

Fast-forward in 2020: WAP is unleashed onto the world. And everybody loses their minds. And, because it is 2020, people found a way to make this song about moist female genitals political and divisive. On one side, mass media gushed over the song (pun intended) with unlimited praise. Complex magazine called the song “the epitome of female empowerment” while the Los Angeles Times wrote

In these past weeks, we’ve witnessed a series of major historical events of a magnitude that is still difficult to fathom. With these events came a wave of panic that is palpable both on a local and a global level. And, in some ways, that panic is understandable. The specter of an invisible yet deadly disease spreading at an exponential rate has terrified humans for centuries.

At the time of writing these lines, we’re at this strange period of uncertainty where we have no idea where this is going and what kind of impact it will have on humanity. How long will this last? How many people will die? Will the world economy collapse?

This unprecedented situation has triggered in many individuals a great deal of fear and anxiety – steadily fed by a constant influx of alarming news by mass media. Meanwhile, while the masses are physically confined in small spaces and mentally paralyzed with fear, things are happening behind the scenes.

In these trying times, vigilant citizens need to be more vigilant than ever. And that means taking a step back, taking a deep breath and remaining clear-headed.

With that being said, here are a few things we need to remember now and always.

Who coined the term anti-vaccine or anti-vaxx? The derogatory term “anti-vaxxer,” which has been championed by the media and the medical industry’s experts who function as the media’s talking heads, are merely people who question the efficacy and safety of a heavy-loaded vaccination schedule for children. And this does not represent a small group of dissident individuals and parents. Rather it represents hundreds of thousands, or perhaps millions, of people in the US alone.

Herman and Noam Chomsky in their critically acclaimed book Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media published in 1988. They define the mass corporate media as “effective and powerful ideological institutions that carry out a system-supportive propaganda function, by reliance on market forces, internalized assumptions and self-censorship, and without overt coercion.” Herman and Chomsky’s insights remain every bit as relevant today for understanding the hidden motivations in today’s media to promulgate the official medical establishment’s vaccine doctrine and to demonize its opponents as they were over three decades ago for manufacturing consent to get Americans’ support behind the Cold War.

Watching awards shows is an act of self-sacrifice that I suffer through a few times a year for the benefit of this site’s loyal readers. Although I strongly dislike sitting through these seemingly endless hours of televised garbage, I believe it is crucial to report on the messages that are being promoted throughout. Netflix’s 2019 second-quarter results were nothing less than disastrous. The streaming company saw its first major loss of US subscribers (over 130,000 cancellations) while the number of international subscriptions barely reached 50% of what was forecast (2.7 million new paid customers). Stocks dropped by more than 10% immediately after the release of the report.

Several reasons were cited for the loss of US subscribers: The price hike from $10.99 to $12.99, competition from other streaming services, the arrival of new streaming services (WarnerMedia, Disney, and Apple) and the stagnation of Netflix’s content library.

While these reasons can explain some of the subscriber loss, people at Netflix and mass media sources alike appear to be purposely ignoring the elephant in the room: Lots of people do not agree with or relate to the content that is sold on Netflix. Furthermore, many find its contents to be toxic and harmful to viewers, especially the younger ones. This is especially evident when one looks at the series created by Netflix.

A video compilation proving that countless local news networks read the same exact scripts around the United States is a chilling reminder of the Orwellian, heavily controlled nature of mass media. Even more chilling: The media coverage of this video.

Yes, what is happening in this video is indeed “extremely dangerous to our democracy”. The viral video, posted online by Deadspin, mashes together segments from a variety of television stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group – the largest television station operator in the United States. Dozens of newscasters, reduced to the state of word-parroting drones, are seen reciting the same script, one that obviously came from “above”. The creepy, Orwellian vibe emanating from the video and its clever editing clearly highlights the fact that mass media is owned by a few mega-companies.

In a twist of irony, the script read by the newscasters ominously warns viewers about “fake and biased news circulating on social media”, the same way Big Brother frowns against “thoughtcrime” in Orwell’s 1984.

While the video highlights the propaganda function of mass media, it was spun by mass media to generate … propaganda.
