NATO’s 5% of GDP Military Expenditures Is a 100% Indefensible and Stupid Idea

NATO’s 5% of GDP Military Expenditures Is a 100% Indefensible and Stupid Idea

By Jan Oberg

The arms-addicted NATO/EU leaders want an increase from 2 to 5% of GNP – or, let’s say, a doubling over the next decade. While neither NATO nor I know how Russia’s military expenditures will develop over that decade – they do serious qualitative threat analysis and not GNP percentages – NATO’s decision about the 5% aims at making NATO’s military expenditures 20 times higher than Russia’s.

Trial by Fire: How the Iran-Israel War Redefined U.S. Perceptions of Iranian Military Firepower

By Prof. Ruel F. Pepa

The Iran-Israel conflict, instigated under the radar by American strategic interests, inadvertently proved that Iran is a power not to be provoked lightly. It is a nation that understands modern warfare not only through missiles and men, but through optics, patience, and the ability to shape outcomes without appearing to control them.

“Um Kulthoum”: Iran, Western Governments and Media Propaganda. “The Balance of Moral Authority has Shifted in Iran’s Favor”. Rima Najjar

By Rima Najjar

Um Kulthoum’s maqamat (a system of melodic modes, like scales in Western music with more complex structures and rules) and Iran’s strategic calculus both emerge from traditions with their own internal coherence, but they are often flattened into caricatures when viewed through Western paradigms.
